Consolidated Communications has appointed Graham Henson, former
international brands director of Grand Metropolitan subsidiary IDV, to
The move is part of a drive to bring senior marketers into the
integrated agency, and strengthen its strategic business planning and
brand building capability.
Henson will initially focus on Consolidated’s Virgin Direct business, a
fully integrated account covering public relations, direct marketing and
an pounds 8 million advertising campaign.
Board director Tom Wells said: ’Graham is used to working across the
marketing mix. We want to offer clients a level of expertise and
experience which perhaps people trained in public relations alone
’Agencies which have that level of thinking have a competitive
advantage, because that’s what clients are looking for,’ said
Henson, who will manage the advertising and PR teams, reports to
Consolidated managing director Alastair Gornall. After spending ten
years at IDV, which owns brands such as Smirnoff vodka and Malibu,
Henson said he decided he was ready to move into a more tightly
controlled working environment.
’Consolidated offers a full communications mix,’ Henson said.
He said his decision was not connected with Grand Met’s impending merger
with Guinness which was announced three weeks ago.
