10 May - This weekend, I really witnessed the power of Twitter ... On Saturday, I was at home cutting the grass ... when my mother turned up at our house with two beautiful and friendly dogs. She found them roaming the streets ... I thought I would see if I could find the owner using Twitter ... Bizarrely, it actually worked!

iPlayer innovations

8 May - The latest version of the BBC's iPlayer does not incorporate social networking features, but they're coming. I don't have a TV in my London flat and my family has been without a TV in Northumberland for four months ... so I've become an ardent user of TV-over-internet services such as iPlayer. Erik Huggers, director, BBC Future Media & Technology, said that social extensions would be incorporated in iPlayer 3.0.

Rehiring resurgence

6 May - PR agencies are hiring again ... agencies seem to be trying to steal talent from each other, rather than use this as an opportunity to bring in people from outside the industry. This is understandable at one level, but a massive, enormous, huge missed opportunity at another. Hiring great talent is what makes great agencies for sure, but we also need to keep an eye on where the market is going.
