Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation signs PR head Emma Gunby

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation has appointed a former journalist as its head of communications and PR.

Emma Gunby has been recruited by the national charity, joining from her role as an account director at North West PR agency Paver Smith.

Gunby has been charged with raising awareness of lung cancer and the charity's national and regional profile. Before her time at Paver Smith, Gunby was a journalist with the Press Association and the Liverpool Daily Post & Echo.

She said: 'The aim of the charity is the defeat of this devastating disease. It is my role is to make sure everyone knows about the hard work going on behind the scenes towards this objective - from our world class research scientists looking at improving lung cancer detection and survival rates to the thousands of people the organisation has helped to give up smoking.'

She joins the organisation, which has its head office in Liverpool, as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.
