Cancer charity Macmillan Cancer Relief has hired Politics
International to handle its political and public affairs.
Politics International pitched against Grandfield and Political
The account was previously held by Ranelagh Public Affairs, which
disbanded its lobbying arm last year to concentrate on research and
monitoring, and has changed its name to the Market Research Unit.
The charity funds training for cancer nurses who work mostly in
hospitals and are known as Macmillan nurses.
Politics International will advise the charity on policies being
developed in the National Health Service white paper, published in
December last year. The paper addresses the resources needed to treat
cancer sufferers in the NHS.
’They wanted a better understanding of the political dynamics of the new
Government and a better handle on the new advisers,’ said Politics
International director Chris Guyver.
