Biss Lancaster has announced the launch of a dedicated financial PR
unit, just weeks after forming offshoot agency Sandpiper.
Biss Lancaster Financial is targeting the personal finance sector, such
as building societies and banks, and companies with a market
capitalisation of around pounds 100,000 to pounds 600,000. The unit will
be headed by board director Belinda Taylor, with the rest of the 11
strong team drawn from the main agency.
Isabel Greenwood, Biss Lancaster MD, said the agency chose to launch the
new unit now as, with financial work making up one tenth of its total
income, it had the right ‘quantum mass’.
She said the launch reflected a growing demand, from financial services
clients, for broader communications skills than were traditionally
provided by strictly financial agencies. ‘Financial organisations are
realising that reputation is everything and they are increasingly
looking for brand marketing skills,’ she said.
Greenwood said she hoped the formation of the unit, five weeks after the
launch of consumer and healthcare-based agency Sandpiper, would enable
Biss Lancaster to double its income from financial work. But she
admitted that it would not yet aim to challenge financial PR
heavyweights such as Brunswick and Dewe Rogerson.
