City & Corporate: M&B retains Finsbury

Mitchells & Butlers is understood to have called off its pitch process for its retained financial PR account and stuck with incumbent Finsbury.

The agency has advised the British pub operator since its 2003 creation following its de-merger from Six Continents. A number of financial PR shops sent in proposals in April, but this process did not move on to an official pitch.

Mitchells & Butlers, which owns brands such as Harvester, Toby Carvery, Browns and All Bar One, invited agency submissions after a board-level coup and strategic review.

Following this review, the firm has pledged to focus around core food-retailing pubs and is widely expected to sell some of its more alcohol-focused brands.

On 23 April, the Takeover Panel ruled there was no collusion between shareholders in the battle to control the firm.
