He will also oversee client relationships with multinational and domestic companies, including Coca-Cola, World Gold Council, Nestle, sanofi-aventis and clients associated with the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

Prior to his appointment, Tan led the brand communications and technology practices at Hill & Knowlton China, and is credited for overseeing the firm's expansion into second-tier cities in the market. He was at Hill & Knowlton for five years, based in Beijing.

Tan has also worked in in-house communications, holding a regional marketing role for DHL Asia-Pacific for three years out of Singapore. He also worked in brand management roles for British American Tobacco and Asia-Pacific Breweries.

'Ben joins MS&LGroup at a crucial period for counseling MNCs in China,' said Glenn Osaki, president of MS&LGroup Asia.

'The need for strategic public relations has never been greater, as China drives the global economy, undergoes a rapid communications transformation, and captivates the world's attention and imagination through the 2010 Shanghai Expo.'
