Financial services companies have overcome traditional media opprobrium
by topping the latest Presswatch Quarterly report. Nine of the ten top
companies in this quarter’s quantitative analysis of UK national press
coverage were from the financial arena.
Perpetual was top with a rating of 952; with National Savings third on
853; Nationwide fourth with 770; and Northern Rock and Bradford and
Bingley, equal fifth with 757.
The other top ten companies were Schroders, Legal and General, Fidelity
Gartmore and Orange, with the latter being the only non-financial
Belinda Taylor, head of Biss Lancaster Financial, said financial
companies were now more aware of the need for good communication. But
she stressed that the level of coverage could be linked to high activity
in the sector.
