Holding company figures: The 2014 rankings do not include the majority of agencies owned by the following holding companies: Interpublic Group, Omnicom, WPP Group, Havas, and Publicis Groupe. These companies claim the Sarbanes-Oxley Act prohibits them from revealing revenues and headcounts for their constituent agencies.

Data: Revenue is defined as fee income earned in the US, markup on billable items, and, when applicable, advertising commissions up to 10% of fee income. Revenue from subsidiaries and affiliates was not included if there was less than 50% ownership, while "n/a" denotes not applicable, where the agency did not submit the figure.

1) FTI Consulting’s 2013 revenue figure incorporates C2 Group, a Washington-based lobby firm the agency acquired last March.

2) Finn Partners’ 2013 revenue and staff figures include the full-year numbers of Widmeyer Communications, which Finn Partners acquired last July.

3) Padilla Speer Beardsley acquired CRT/tanaka last September, creating the merged PadillaCRT entity. The 2012 US revenue and staff numbers indicated above are a combination of both firms’ 2012 figures ($16,875,860 for Padilla and $13,009,202 for CRT/tanaka). The 2013 rank listed above reflects both Padilla Speer Beardsley’s (24) and CRT/tanaka’s (39) position in the 2013 rankings.

4) The OutCast Agency’s 2012 revenue and staff numbers were updated from last year’s report to reflect calendar year figures.

5) Lewis PR’s 2012 revenue was updated to reflect calendar year figures. Its 2013 revenue and staff figures include the full-year numbers of Davies Murphy Group, which Lewis PR acquired last June.

6) Peppercomm’s 2013 revenue figure incorporates the full-year revenue of Walek & Associates and Janine Gordon Associates, both firms it acquired in 2013. In addition, Peppercomm revised its 2012 revenue slightly after an internal audit.

*The following agencies’ 2012 revenues all changed slightly from what was reported last year (this year’s ranking noted in parentheses): After internal audits, Mitchell Communications Group (34); Jackson Spalding (44); Merritt Group (58); Walker Sands Communications (100); McGrath Power (116); Boardroom Communications (117); Landis Communications (154); Michael A. Burns & Associates (158); and K/F Communications (165) all revised 2012 revenue slightly. all revised 2012 revenue slightly.

**The following agencies’ 2012 revenue and staff numbers were updated from what was reported last year (this year’s ranking in parentheses): After internal reviews, RF|Binder Partners (45); FoodMinds (68); Solomon McCown (95); and Wise Public Relations (175) all revised both their 2012 revenue and staff figures slightly. 2012 revenue figures for Hager Sharp (52); Crosby (60); Nuffer, Smith, and Tucker (96); and Miller Brooks (152) were all updated to reflect 2012 calendar year revenue. J Public Relations (108) updated its 2012 revenue after an internal audit and adjusted its 2012 staff total to include New York employees.
