Fawcett Society seeks PR chiefs

Kate Magee 01-May-08

Women's rights organisation the Fawcett Society has created two specialist in-house PR roles for the first time.

It is on the hunt for a head of campaigns and a senior comms officer, which it hopes to have in place by August.

The group wants to broaden support for women's rights. It hopes that bringing in PR specialists will help it reach out to a wider audience and expand awareness of the organisation.

Dr Katherine Rake, director of the Fawcett Society, said these new roles would be critical in the body's expansion plans. Currently, PR is handled across the office.

This week the Fawcett Society launched 'femocracy', a campaign to engage ethnic minority women in politics.

It will hold nationwide events to build confidence to participate in politics and encourage women to vote.
