Charity drive on World Asthma Day
Kate Magee 01-May-08
Asthma UK is calling on the Government to end the 'lottery' faced by children with asthma when accessing local health services.
'Wish You Were Here?' will launch on 6 May - World Asthma Day. It aims to persuade parents, governments and health services to take the condition more seriously.
The charity will release its latest report at a parliamentary reception in Westminster and at further receptions in Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Health services and parents will also be targeted in the campaign.
'We have set up 121 briefings with journalists, drafted tailored media releases for each government region and worked with the comms departments of the PCTs we've highlighted in our reports,' said Richard Donaldson, Asthma UK's executive director of marketing.
'By providing this tailored offering, we're hoping the campaign will succeed in achieving widespread coverage,' he said.
