NFU appoints new head of comms
Falkingham: leaving journalism
Clare O’Connor 15-May-08
The editor of the Farmers' Guardian will move to the National Farmers' Union next month to take up the top comms role.
Liz Falkingham will take over as director of comms from Anthony Gibson, who is retiring in June after 36 years with the NFU.
The union’s director general Richard Macdonald said Falkingham’s strong agricultural, commercial and comms background made her suitable for the role.
The NFU is often involved in high profile lobbying activity, and held meetings with Government ministers ahead of Alistair Darling’s recent fuel rise u-turn . The body is representing the interests of the agricultural industry in the biofuels debate .
