Software tester AppLabs calls in Red Consultancy

Clare O'Connor 01-May-08

The Red Consultancy has been handed an EMEA brief from a global software testing company, beating three other UK agencies.

The agency will position AppLabs as the leader in its field in the national and trade press.

AppLabs tests software and consults on IT issues for clients including American Airlines, JP Morgan and Cisco.

The company, founded in the dotcom boom of 2001, is backed by Sequoia Capital, the prolific venture capital firm behind Google, YouTube and Paypal.

Red's team will be led by David Vindel, the agency head of tech who moved from Band & Brown at the beginning of the year (PRWeek, 18 January).

Vindel said industry reports from Gartner, Forster and IDC estimate that the software testing market is expected to be worth more than £30bn by 2010. The account team at Red will report to head of global PR at AppLabs, Reema Sarin.

- Separately, Red has added to its tech team, poaching Hotwire creative manager Peter Bowles. He is now an account director at Red, working on the high-profile Nintendo account, which includes the launch of the new Wii Fit.
