May heads Forestry Commission team
Matt Cartmell 01-May-08
The Forestry Commission of Scotland has boosted its comms and secretariat team by appointing a new head of communications.
Sheryl May joins from Scottish Water, where she was commercial marketing manager, leading the effort to raise awareness of the opening of the £350m Scottish water market to competition.
In her new role, May is working with the media, promotions and website teams on internal and external strategic comms and branding.
She also oversees the commission's secretariat team in Scotland, taking the lead on parliamentary affairs and comms liaison with Scottish government ministers and other related organisations.
'Forestry now influences so many aspects of Scottish life, including rural and economic development, health, tourism and, of course, the global fight against climate change,' said May.
A chartered marketer, May previously held roles in Scottish and Southern Energy and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
