Mobile operator O2 will launch a series of products in the New Year based around Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, embedded into new smartphones.
A merged News Corporation and BSkyB is unlikely to link up its TV and newspaper ad sales due to lack of "market power," according to the European Commission's competition experts.
The European Commission has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of British and Irish pay TV operator BSkyB by News Corporation, a global media and communications company headquartered in the US.
Sir Martin Sorrell, founder and chief executive of WPP, expects News Corporation's bid to buy the 60.9% of satellite and cable operator BSkyB it does not already own, to be passed by the regulators.
