The Department of Social Security is to launch two campaigns with a
combined budget of up to pounds 14 million to inform widows and
pensioners about their rights.
The threat of a Europe-wide ban on TV advertising to children has
receded after the Swedish government climbed down from its pledge to use
its upcoming EU presidency to force the ban through.
Short of a flutter on Manchester United winning the championship
and Watford dropping through the Premier League s trapdoor, no bet looks
safer than the Swedish government s failure to secure a Europe-wide ban
on TV advertising to children.
