GlaxoSmithKline has hired WCRS to handle the £30 million pan-European advertising account for Alli, its US over-the-counter weight-loss drug. The company has made an application to get the drug approved for over-the-counter sale in Europe under a different name, and plans to launch it next year.

GlaxoSmithKline has appointed WCRS to handle the £30m pan-European advertising business for the launch of its weight-loss drug, Alli. In February, Alli became the first over-the-counter weight-loss treatment to gain approval in the US. GSK plans to launch the drug in Europe toward the end of 2008.
