New Scientist has named Jeremy Webb as its new editor. He replaces
Alun Anderson, who has been promoted to editor-in-chief and charged with
overseeing the title s expansion into the US and on-line. The launch of
a US edition and a US web site is due in March next year.

Letizia Moratti, chairman and chief executive of News Corporation
Europe, resigned on Tuesday, after less than a year in the job. Internal
differences have been given as the cause of her departure, with Moratti
quoted as saying that her beliefs were 'not shared by News Corp'.
