MEDIA: MEDIA BRIEFS - New Scientist prepares for US web push

New Scientist has named Jeremy Webb as its new editor. He replaces Alun Anderson, who has been promoted to editor-in-chief and charged with overseeing the title s expansion into the US and on-line. The launch of a US edition and a US web site is due in March next year.

Letizia Moratti, chairman and chief executive of News Corporation Europe, resigned on Tuesday, after less than a year in the job. Internal differences have been given as the cause of her departure, with Moratti quoted as saying that her beliefs were 'not shared by News Corp'.

Powerhouse chosen to handle handbag.com launch

Boots The Chemists and Hollinger Digital have handed a pounds 100,000 fee consumer and trade PR account to Powerhouse to promote new women-focused internet web site, handbag.com.
