Are advertisers better-placed to regulate newspapers? The chairman of the select committee on media affairs' latest big idea is rooted in a somewhat imperfect understanding of the story of the decline and fall of News of the World last July, says Alasdair Reid.
A parliamentary committee charged with investigating the UK's privacy laws has recommended that advertisers should help enforce regulation of newspapers and that Google should to do more to restrict offending content.
