The Daily Star was the only daily newspaper to have increased its average circulation between April and September, rising 17.5% year on year to 863,805, according to the latest ABC figures. The Daily Star Sunday also increased its circulation, by 1.5% to 386,265.

News International's The Sun remains the highest-circulation daily in Britain, with an average of 3.1m from March to August, down 2.3% year-on-year. Its Sunday sister title, News of the World, had a circulation of 3m, down 5.2% for the same period.
