Robinson ditched by Consolidated

Robinson: boardroom coup

Robinson: boardroom coup

David Quainton 10-Oct-07

Consolidated Communications MD Sarah Robinson has been ousted in a boardroom coup.

The industry veteran, who had run the agency since 1999 and led an MBO in 2001, was ditched after the board decided Consolidated needed ‘a change of direction’.

Despite continued growth, rival agency heads have suggested the firm is less of a threat on big consumer pitches.

Consolidated deputy MD Nick Clark rejected any suggestion that the agency is underperforming, but did concede the board thought its growth could be quicker.

In a statement, he said: ‘We have traded profitably during this financial year, and have some significant recent business wins. However, the board feels that the company needs to move forward into a new stage of growth and that an external candidate was best placed to lead this.’ The agency is now searching for Robinson’s replacement.

Consolidated was 33rd in PRWeek’s 2006 Top 150 Agency League Table, but failed to produce figures for this year’s table. In 2002 the agency was PRWeek’s Consultancy of the Year.

This week the agency picked up the account for hotel chain Travelodge.
