Brown aide takes up job at Hanover
David Quainton 13-Sep-07
One of Gordon Brown’s aides is set to join Hanover, the agency run by John Major’s former press secretary Charles Lewington.
Nicola Murphy starts next month in the newly created role of associate director.
Murphy, who has worked with Brown for six years, helped with his Labour leadership campaign earlier this year and has also acted as a Treasury special adviser.
While a number of Blairites have moved into PR roles in recent weeks, Murphy is one of the few members of the Brown camp to make the transition.
At Hanover, Murphy will advise companies including Hutchison Whampoa’s mobile phone arm ‘3’ and the Social Enterprise Coalition.
