Siemens Hearing hires Pegasus
Hearing-aid maker Siemens Hearing Instruments is to launch its first-ever PR campaign targeting consumers as it bids to promote a product it is touting as a ‘milestone in hearing technology’.
The company, a subsidiary of Siemens Medical Solutions, is using Pegasus PR to handle a UK campaign to promote the product, which will be unveiled to the trade press in January and will become available next spring.
Siemens Hearing Instruments’ PR is normally handled in-house, but communications manager Susan Brown said the product justified the external consumer PR backing because it is a ‘hearing system, not just a hearing aid’.
Pegasus will handle consumer media relations to promote the product, with PR work also supporting a wider theme of promoting healthy hearing.
The results of a survey into how hearing difficulties can affect people’s quality of life will be promoted.
Pegasus won a four-way pitch on fees understood to be around £50,000 to secure the account.
