World Gold Council: global pitch

The non-profit association set up to promote the use of gold has launched a pitch process for global support thought to include the US, Europe and China. The fees are rumoured to rise to six or potentially seven figures.

The pitch process is understood to be in the opening stages. Sources have suggested that the brief is expected to include consumer, corporate and technology.

Corporate comms director Brenda Bates confirmed that ‘some element’ of MSLGroup’s brief is up for repitch although declined to reveal what that would include. She added: ‘We’ve been looking at comms and talking to a few people.’

The pitch process comes after MSLGroup was brought in by the council in 2009.

The account has been led from London by financial comms shop Capital MSL, working alongside MSL Worldwide and Publicis Consultants.

The World Gold Council is based in the UK with operations in India, the Far East, Europe and the US. Its 23 members comprise the leading gold mining companies, representing around 60% of global corporate gold production.

The council's CEO is Aram Shishmanian, former head of the global financial markets practice at Accenture.
