The Daily Mirror's ‘election chicken' turns up on the cover again, this time alongside Conservative shadow business secretary Ken Clarke, while The Sun reports that children's character 'Peppa Pig' has pulled out of a Labour campaign aimed at families.

The political parties are all accused of dishonesty over the scale of spending cuts necessary this year. Seizing on an Institute of Fiscal Studies report, the Daily Mail headlines ‘Secret tax bombshell', The Independent prompts all parties to ‘Tell us the truth on the economy', The Guardian reports ‘Tax rises likely as savings overstated', and The Daily Telegraph reveals ‘The story these men don't want you to read' and outlines the potential scale of tax rises.

Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg is quoted on the cover of The Times, saying: ‘I want to be Prime Minister', Tory leader David Cameron is pictured with a copy of the Daily Star on the paper's cover, promising ‘I'll stop migrant flood' and Prime Minister Gordon Brown is criticised over the NHS in the Daily Express.

The Daily Express also takes a pop at the BBC today, accusing the broadcaster of wasting cash and showing repeats, while in other news, Goldman Sachs banker, Fabrice Tourre, is on the cover of The Guardian after being grilled by congressmen in the US yesterday.

Environment and transport is The Guardians ‘fact file' of the day as its seven-part series continues and DFS advertises on the paper's cover.

‘Money Mail' is free with the Daily Mail today alongside its long-running War DVD offer.

The Daily Telegraph is giving away another Doctor Who audio book and Prudential advertises on its cover.
