Apparently joint managing directors Nick Spindler and Peter Thompson
were on a train heading for a client meeting with Allied Dunbar when
they fell into composing mood.
After much humming Spindler, who has a diploma from the Trinity College
of Music, came up with a tune while Thompson wrote the lyrics. The pair
took their ditty to a business associate at Mcasso Music Productions
who, unbeknown to them, entered it in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Now the song, named ’For the Life You Don’t Yet Know’, is one of the
final four contestants battling it out to represent Britain in the
contest, held on 3 May.
The duo have recruited ex-Ultravox singer Sam Blue as their front man
and have assembled a four-girl string quartet. They have also been
signed up by Simply Red’s label East West Records who insist the song is
top 20 material.
Agency staff are big fans of the ballad, although one did confess to
also being a fan of Michael Bolton.
