The government of the Bahamas has hired Citigate to promote the European

leg of a worldwide tour by Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham next month.

Citigate’s two month contract, which carries a pounds 100,000 fee, will

involve the agency in promoting the Bahamas to City, financial and

government audiences during Ingraham’s week-long visit to the UK,

France, Germany and Italy at the end of November.

Work will focus on positioning the islands as an offshore banking centre

and raising the profile of its shipping and tourism industries.

Citigate, which will handle the account alongside its European partners

in Paris, Frankfurt and Milan, was given the job following a

recommendation by US consultancy Robinson Lake Sawyer Miller which is

handling the rest of Ingraham’s worldwide tour.

Managing director Simon Brocklebank-Fowler said: ‘There are very few

consultancies that can deliver across the board, so this appointment is

a vindication of our ability and experience.’

Citigate has worked on similar short-term international projects before.

In April it was hired for three months by the United Nations to promote

its white helmet humanitarian volunteer force in the US, Europe and the

Far East.
