US call centre company Sitel, which recently announced it was to create 10,000 jobs over the next five years, has appointed Bourne River PR to handle its pounds 100,000 corporate PR account.
US call centre company Sitel, which recently announced it was to
create 10,000 jobs over the next five years, has appointed Bourne River
PR to handle its pounds 100,000 corporate PR account.
Bourne River won the work without a competitive pitch from incumbent
Fleishman-Hillard, which still handles Sitel’s corporate and
business-to-business PR in Europe and North America.
Sitel employs 2,500 people in the UK and runs call centres for clients
including the Central Office of Information, the Department for
Education and Employment, the National Lottery Charities Board, the
Daily Telegraph, and Disneyland Paris.
Sitel claims to be the largest company of its kind in the UK and
globally.
It runs 70 call centres in 18 countries across the Americas, Europe and
Asia Pacific.
Bourne River aims to build Sitel’s profile in the UK alongside its
expansion - the company plans to increase its UK turnover from pounds 60
million to pounds 250 million in five years.
The call centre industry in the UK now employs more people than the
nation’s coal, steel and car manufacturing sectors combined, according
to research by the London School of Economics.
’As the PR agency of the market leader we will be taking on the mantle
of market educator and champion,’ said Bourne River director Matthew
Bantock.
