DUSSELDORF: New brainchild for Klewes
Joachim Klewes, a partner and managing director of Kohtes & Klewes for
the past nine years, is planning to leave at the end of the year to open
his own consulting firm. The agency, called k-brain, will offer
integration management, recruitment, training and evaluation services to
corporate communications firms.
ROME: Petroleum body gives Gaia an airing
Gaia Relazioni Pubbliche has won a contract from the Italian Association
of Petroleum Industries, Unione Petrolifera, to promote Auto-Oil, the
European Commission’s project for the improvement of air quality. The
agency beat Hill and Knowlton to the account which is worth around
pounds 100,000 in fees and will bind Gaia and UP until December 1997.
Gaia will organise meetings between UP, environmental groups and the
general public. The agency has also been charged with packaging
information related to the development of the project and will support
the in-house press office.
PARIS: Edelman sails into Mauritius win
The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority has appointed Edelman and
advertising agency McCann-Erickson to raise the island’s profile in
France. ‘We have been using the CORP agency for the past 14 years,’ said
Ghoorah Toto, manager of the tourist board promotions authority in
London. ‘The obvious thing to do after so long was to review the
situation and look for an agency which would provide new ideas and new
inputs.’ One of Edelman’s tasks will be to organise press trips for
travel trade journalists to the island.
PARIS: Agencies pitch for Moroccan deal
The Moroccan stock exchange, La Societe de la Bourse des Valeurs de
Casablanca, has invited several agencies, including Grayling Paris, to
pitch next week for a worldwide contract. The PR and advertising project
will target international investors via business seminars, telemarketing
and the financial press.
POLAND: UPR joins forces with MS&L
Manning, Selvage & Lee has appointed United Public Relations (UPR) as an
affiliate partner in Poland. Founded in 1989, UPR is ranked one of the
top three agencies in Poland with a turnover in 1995 in excess of
dollars 5 million (pounds 3.3 million). Its clients include Pepsi-Cola,
Multi-Choice Television and Motorola. ‘They are an outstanding agency,’
said Alasdair Sutherland, MS&L director of European strategic
development. MS&L’s advertising agency sister, DMB & B Advertising,
also has an office in Warsaw.
AMSTERDAM: Text 100 launches Infoworld
US computer publisher International Data Group (IDG) has chosen Text 100
Benelux to handle the November launch of its magazine InfoWorld across
Europe. Text 100 will target IT managers and the media and marketing
press. The project, which is worth an estimated total of pounds 6,500,
will end after the launch, but both parties are negotiating further
representation.
