Sense, the national deafblind charity, has been providing training to MPs and prospective political candidates on how to make their campaigns accessible to people with a disability. One in six of the UK population is disabled, which represents an average of 15,000 voters per constituency.
The Vodafone Foundation has called in Slice PR to support its Kick4Life initiative, a football charity based in Lesotho. It will involve a series of events in the run-up to the World Cup in South Africa in June. The account, won after a two-way pitch, will be headed by director Greg Jones.
National Family Week has asked Parys Communications to help promote the benefits of a positive and active family life in the build up to its annual event. Parys will run a PR campaign to raise the event's profile, which takes place from 31 May to 6 June, targeting national consumer media, regional press and broadcast.
Amnesty International used Mother's Day as a hook to launch a film in the Houses of Parliament that calls for the UK Government to make maternal and newborn health a priority in its international development. The campaign is backed by celebrities including Keira Knightley, Annie Lennox and Beverley Knight.
