PR Week UK, Thursday, 25 April 1996, 12:00am,
MPR Communications has scored an account win with the world’s oldest independent rugby club, Blackheath. The agency has been recruited by the club, which is preparing to turn professional, to raise its profile among potential sponsors and to provide media relations support. The club is one of the best known in international rugby, not least so for its 1858 rule that: ‘Although it is lawful to hold any player in a scrimmage, this does not include attempts to throttle or strangle, which are totally opposed to the principles of the game’.
