FT is doing business on-line
The Financial Times has joined forces with Future Publishing’s Internet
title net magazine to produce Doing Business On-Line, a 32-page
supplement which advises businesses how to take advantage of the
Internet. The first issue will be inserted into the FT on 4 December.
Flextech gets into new media
Cable and satellite TV company Flextech Television has formed a new
division to develop products and services on the Internet for its own
and non-Flextech channels. Vice president for information technology
Ashley Highfield, will head the department, called Flextech New Media.
RSGB discovers scent success
RSGB Media has conducted a survey for Vogue on the most effective media
for fragrance and cosmetic marketing. Of the 1,006 women asked, 47 per
cent chose scent strips in women’s magazines. Articles in these titles
scored 34 per cent in comparison with articles in newspaper and weekend
supplements which scored seven per cent. TV advertising scored 14 per
cent and just one per cent chose direct mail.
PR guide to fashion industry
Fashion Monitor, the news, contacts and events information service for
the fashion and beauty industry, has launched The Little Black Book, a
quick reference guide to over 1,500 media and PR contacts.
Chisholm heads for Channel 5
Channel 5 has hired former Sky News anchorman Scott Chisholm as the main
presenter for its early morning news programme. The show will also
cover sport, weather, business and entertainment.
Gask takes helm at Sugar
Teen title Sugar has appointed 34-year-old Marina Gask as editor. Gask,
who has been at Sugar since its 1994 launch, replaces Joanne Elvin who
becomes managing editor.
Join the debate on digital TV
The Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom is to hold a public
meeting on 27 November at Westminster Central Hall. Speakers at
‘Digital TV: Murdoch’s next conquest?’ include Heritage Secretary
Virginia Bottomley.
