Trueman, previously European marketing director for home entertainment and media, has taken up the post with immediate effect.

In his new role Trueman will be responsible for coordinating UK and Ireland brand and product marketing programmes working with an in-house team of 35 category specialists across product marketing and marketing services.

Prior to joining LG Electronics, his 25 year career has included senior marketing and innovation roles at Cadbury-Schweppes and Mars.

Trueman said: "Our ambition is to develop the LG brand as the human face of technology. To achieve this, we will focus our efforts on building marketing programmes that are consumer centric in their approach and will increase levels of relevance and satisfaction for our consumers and customers."

LG has vacancies for two senior marketing positions at LG Mobile. It is aiming to replace sales and marketing director John Barton, who is leaving in April, and head of marketing Jeremy Newing, who left in September.

Meanwhile, LG has also appointed Saint@RKCR/Y&R to handle its social media advertising account.

The agency will be responsible for creating a number of digital campaigns during 2010 that runs along the brand’s Life’s Good Moments campaign.
