Lottery operator Camelot has retained its existing corporate and
consumer PR agencies after a review initiated in the summer.
Camelot intends to spend over pounds 1 million on PR over the next two
years, as it lobbies to retain the licence to run the National Lottery.
The licence expires in 2001.
MacLaurin, which had previously handled Camelot’s consumer PR on a
short-term contract, has been retained for two years. Brunswick will
continue to handle corporate PR. Harrison Cowley, which was not
reviewed, will continue to handle regional PR.
The lottery operator saw pitches from nine agencies, including the Red
Consultancy, Shandwick and Fishburn Hedges (PR Week 2 October).
Camelot has also made Andrew Jones head of public affairs. Jones joined
from Department for Education and Employment, where he was a senior
media officer .
