Government ad campaign advises on how to safely cook a turkey

LONDON - The Food Standards Agency is attempting to reduce the number of food safety problems with its annual Christmas advertising campaign.
The TV and radio campaign is humorous but drives home three key messages about the preparation and cooking of turkey:
- don't wash it (you don't need to)
- defrost it thoroughly
- cook it properly
The ads will run between 19 and 25 December on national and regional TV and commercial radio stations.
According to Mintel's most recent research into Christmas food, consumers spent £28.9m on frozen turkeys, compared to £25.7 million on fresh turkeys, over Christmas last year.
