Flack: (saving) on expenses - Salvos Restaurant, Headingley, Leeds
PR Week UK, Friday, 11 December 2009, 12:00am,
Reviewer: Jason Madeley, MD, Hatch Communications, Leeds
What is it good for?
Fresh, traditional Italian food with a contemporary twist.
The restaurant is a stone's throw from the Headingley Test Cricket Ground and features a modern, crisp interior. Salvos appeared on Gordon Ramsay's The F Word in November, winning the title of 'Best Local Restaurant'.
Signature dishes
The Penne Piccante is a perfect combination served with spicy Calabrian salame and a tomato and Italian fennel sausage sauce.
Who's the boss?
Brothers John and Gip Salvos run the restaurant, which was started by their father in 1976, and are always on hand to describe the day's specials and provide tips on wine.
Tips please
Book on a lunchtime as it can get busy, and make sure you check out the upstairs wine bar, complete with Vespa.
What's the damage?
A two-course light lunch is £8.95. Pizza and pasta dishes are £9.50. So if you want a busy yet relaxed atmosphere with the best pizza and pasta in Leeds, give Salvos a whirl.
