Information management giant SITA has recruited Karl Moore to the
new role of public relations manager, with a brief to manage
international communications for the company’s network services.
Based at SITA’s marketing and communications headquarters in Hayes,
Middlesex, Moore will co-ordinate the activities of its five retained
agencies across the globe: Firefly Communications in the UK, Cohn and
Wolfe in the US and Canada, Galaxy in France, PPR in Singapore and
Corpcom in Australia.
In addition, he will liaise with local PR staff in SITA’s ten global
geographical regions and develop communications programmes aimed at
industry analysts and to support international exhibitions and
conferences. He reports to marketing and communications manager Terry
Tucker, who previously handled public relations functions.
’There’s a need to focus more on sustained public relations rather than
have it as an additional function of marketing communications,’ said
Moore.
Before joining SITA, Moore worked as a public relations officer for
British Aerospace’s military aircraft division for three years. There he
specialised in product promotion for Eurofighter, Nimrod 2000, Hawk,
Harrier and Tornado aircraft.
Founded in 1949 as a co-operative of the world’s air transport industry,
SITA (Societe Internationale de Telecommunications Aeronautiques)
provides telecommunications and information processing services to more
than 600 organisations worldwide.
SITA also works closely with its three sister companies - Equant
(formerly Scitor), ITS and Novus - to provide network solutions and
consultancy services for the travel, finance, energy, trade and hotel
industries.
Earlier this year the company announced a 15 per cent rise in turnover
for 1996 to pounds 1 billion.
