New technology for Future

Future Publishing is to launch T3: Tomorrow’s Technology Today- a new

glossy monthly consumer technology magazine - on 19 September. T3 will

be edited by Steve Jarratt who launched Edge and the Official UK

Playstation Magazine for Future.

Kirwan to edit Computing

Peter Kirwan is to edit Computing magazine following the recent closure

of its sister VNU Publishing title Business Age. Eira Hayward, formerly

editor of PC Dealer, joins him as associate editor.

Fitzsimons takes helm at IRN

Derval Fitzsimons has been appointed editor of Independent Radio News,

taking over from Nicholas Wheeler who has been made chief editor, ITN

Radio.

Man O Man escapes ITC rap

The ITC has not upheld nine complaints it received, mainly from men,

following the first episode of ITV’s Man O Man in which 10 men compete

for the votes of 300 women in a studio audience. The viewers said the

programme is degrading to men and would not be allowed if the sexes of

the participants were reversed. The ITC says the programme code was not

breached.

Adams heads Observer Review

Tim Adams has been promoted to editor of the Observer’s Review section.

Andrew Purves, commissioning editor of the Independent on Sunday’s

Review section, is joining the Observer as deputy editor of the Life

section. Anthony Barnett has joined as industrial correspondent and Ros

Snowdon from Sunday Business as a business reporter.

Newell to succeed at Society

Newspaper Society deputy director David Newell is to succeed Dugal

Nisbet-Smith as director of the Society when Nisbet Smith retires.

Two Ten takes over Et’Cetera

Two Ten Communications has taken over the Et’Cetera Partnership, which

creates and manages children’s clubs and marketing and brand loyalty

packages including the ‘Funday Times Club’ in the Sunday Times and the

joint Radio Times/Childrens’ BBC ‘Press Pack Club’.
