The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) is searching for a new director of communications following Stephen Horn’s move to specialist broadcast consultancy Bulletin International as operations director.
The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) is searching for a new
director of communications following Stephen Horn’s move to specialist
broadcast consultancy Bulletin International as operations director.
The role entails responsibility for a staff of 15, including press
relations, Parliamentary and European lobbying, CBI News and the
high-profile CBI annual conference.
CBI wants to appoint as soon as possible, particularly in view of its
annual conference in November, a spokesman said. First round interviews
will take place shortly.
Horn, 36, joined the CBI in 1994 after a career as a producer on the
Nine O’Clock News, The Money Programme, Newsnight and BBC Business
Breakfast.
At Bulletin, he will be responsible for the broadcast relations and
production teams and for co-ordinating their activities with the client
services team.
Bulletin chief executive Anthony Hayward said Horn’s appointment was
’part of the consultancy’s policy of providing clients with the
opportunity to evolve communications programmes designed around the
powerful medium of broadcasting, rather than only using traditional
public relations and print media techniques’.
Commenting on his role Horn said: ’Television will become increasingly
important internationally as more channels came on air. Television is
the most effective communications channel, especially for business.’
Bulletin was one of the few consultancies capable of taking broadcast
relations into the centre of corporate and marketing strategy, he
added.
Bulletin clients include British Tourist Authority, Marks and Spencer,
MasterCard International and Singapore Airlines.
