Wantage-based PR agency Charlton Communications has been drafted in to
handle media relations for British explorer Roger Mear’s trek across
Antarctica.
The agency was hired last month by expedition organiser Solo Antarctica
to boost publicity ahead of Mear’s departure from the Weddell Sea last
week. Mear is bidding for the first unsupported solo walk 1,700 miles to
the other side of the continent, ahead of Norwegian rival Borge Ousland.
Internet access provider and Charlton client Planet Online has devised a
Web site where Mear’s and Ousland’s positions will be plotted on a map,
together with photos and video footage of both expeditions obtained via
satellite.
