The IPR’s on-going campaign to promote the benefits of public relations
to smaller businesses has received a boost from the Government.
The Department of Trade and Industry has agreed to fund the publication
of a joint IPR/PRCA Best Practice Guide, which will aim to explain how
UK companies can generate tangible business benefits from using public
relations.
The DTI agreed to the request after the IPR presented a proposal on the
idea at a meeting last month.
The guide will take the form of an ‘action orientated’ document using
case histories and covering a range of PR activities. The IPR is
planning an initial run of 10,000 copies.
The publication ties in with the theme of next week’s joint
IPR/Manchester Business Links ‘PR means business’ evening seminar is
aimed at businesses in the North West region which have up to 200
employees.
The seminar is designed as a practical workshop on public relations.
Speakers are to include Hill and Knowlton Manchester managing director
Adam Roscoe; IPR Northwest chairman Rob Brown; and also Castlefield PR’s
managing director David Davies.
Tickets for next week’s event, which takes place at the Manchester
Chamber of Commerce on 13 November, cost pounds 23.50 each and are
available from the IPR.
