Jaz Cummins has joined the human rights organisation to strengthen its online engagement. She was digital PR account manager at Mindshare.

Cummins joins as the NGO kicks off a social media strand of the ongoing 'Make Shell Come Clean' campaign.

It is asking members of the public to take pictures of their local Shell station with the 'S' obscured, to read 'Hell Station'. These pictures are then uploaded to a map of the UK on the NGO's site. It is trying to highlight the damage it alleges Shell is doing in the Niger Delta.

Amnesty is also asking people to find a Shell station on Google Maps, and to award a one-star review, with 'they are abusing human rights in the Niger Delta' as the first line.

This means that it is the first thing internet users will see if they search for the station.
