PHD North wins Fresh Awards

LONDON - Regional media was celebrated at the Fresh Awards last week with PHD North winning the award for media agency of the year and News International winning the prize for best media brand.

At the event, held in Manchester, PHD North won nine awards, including the prize for the one to watch in media, which went to media manager Mark Worth, as well as two gold awards and five silvers.

Omnicom agency PHD North has a Manchester-based staff of 12. Jason Spencer, managing director, said: "PHD North's awards are a testament to what we are offering outside London."

Eye Fly was headline sponsor of the event. John Rankin, an awards judge  and general manager of the airport media owner, said: "It is incredibly rewarding to see so many exciting ideas and people are responding to the tough market with really powerful, creative solutions."

Pete Davis, managing director of Get Me Media and chair of the judges, said all the bronze, silver and gold award winners showed return on investment and creativity. He said: "News International won best media brand because it showed it worked as a team and involved senior management from London in its regional operations demonstrating their regional operations weren't just a token."
