Describe your magazine
An independent entertainment title, covering all the latest TV, film, video games, toys, gadgets, football, books and weird stuff for boys aged six to 13.
You have just rebranded to Nitro! Why?
As the Official Jetix Magazine we enjoyed many years of fruitful partnership with the Jetix TV channel. However, with the forthcoming channel rebrand, we felt it was right to become an independent title.
What sets you apart from your rivals?
Future Publishing’s legacy within video games gives us a clear advantage, but we also have a strong grounding in properties such as Pokémon, Power Rangers and Dinosaur King. In the short time since our relaunch we have also partnered with Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and 4Kids.
Is there space for a children’s magazine when most young people are online?
Our robust sales in the face of a large number of competitors are proof that there is still plenty of room for the right title. It is about creating a high quality, value-for-money product with the best stories.
What makes a great story for Nitro!?
New episodes of top TV shows, blockbuster films, exciting new video games, latest toys, plus secrets you won’t read anywhere else.
What relationship do you have with PROs?
Very positive. We have enjoyed countless collaborations with PR partners, and the results have ranged from pitch-perfect editorial pieces, to amazing competitions and extensive commercial deals, such as cover mounts.
PR pet peeves
So far, the PROs have been great. They answer their phones, reply to emails and arrange great stuff.
I always read the film mags – Empire and Total Film. I love all the big American TV dramas, especially Lost, Dexter and The Shield. Books are a big part of my life, too.
Do you have a website?
We are in the process of developing Nitro!’s website.
