PR Week UK, Friday, 11 September 2009, 12:00am,
Amaze PR recently issued a press release on behalf of paint company Sandtex, speculating on what the house of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow might look like with a yellow makeover.
The agency was attempting to piggyback on the news that they are extending the house. But perhaps they went too far by including a photo of the actual house. Cue a heated phone call from Martin's PRO Murray Chalmers, asking them to retract the revealing photo. Oops ...
Unity co-founder Gerry Hopkinson may be in the wrong job. When launching Pizza Express' 'Never-ending song' campaign at the firm's flagship restaurant in London's Soho, Hopkinson stumbled across musical talent. He tells us he signed fledgling Korean songbird Younee hours before the launch, after he got chatting with her by chance in Soho. She then took part in Pizza Express' latest campaign based on jazz musicians playing for one week without stopping around the country. Hopkinson assures us Younee's physical appearance had no bearing on his talent-booking skills. Hmm ...
Finally, Mandate Communications' latest brochure offers some choice facts about the team. Not only have eight sung on TV, but two have played sport for their country. Perhaps the most unlikely fact is that a whopping 11 have met the Queen. How many are related to her remains unknown.
