The Guardian is covermounting a Paul Weller CD on its listings magazine

The Guide on Saturday, a first for a national newspaper.

LWT to set new Agenda

LWT is launching Agenda, a new current affairs show for Sunday

afternoons, on 16 June. It will be presented by Andrew Rawnsley who

writes for the Observer and presents Channel 4’s A Week in Politics, and

is produced by Wall to Wall Television.

Picardie gets a Life

Justine Picardie has been appointed editor of the Observer’s Life

magazine. She joins from the Sunday Telegraph where she has been

commissioning editor since March.

Fairweather travels for H&Q

Catherine Fairweather, a Rome-based travel writer, has been appointed

travel editor of Harpers & Queen with effect from 1 July when she

returns to the UK. She replaces John Halt who will continue to write for

the magazine on a freelance basis.

VNU makes Room for net user

VNU Publications has launched its first electronic magazine, the Room, a

lifestyle magazine for Internet users. It will be positioned within

VNU’s web site.

Grampian profits soar

Grampian Group, which holds the ITV licence for the north of Scotland,

has announced pre-tax profits up 31.3 per cent to pounds 5.78 million on

turnover of pounds 24.82 million for the year to 29 February.

New motoring ads for net

Link House publications, publisher of Exchange and Mart and sister

company United Provincial Newspapers have created what they claim is the

biggest UK classified motoring site for the Internet.

New sightings of aliens

Ark Soundwaves, publisher of Fortean Times, has launched a bi-monthly

title UFO Reality which will explore the phenomenon and new culture

surrounding it. Meanwhile Rapide Publishing is launching a monthly

magazine Sightings, covering all aspects of UFOs and alien phenomena.
