As well as magazines, the brief will include booklets and programme content.

A pitch process is expected to begin at the end of September, after a shortlist has been drawn up. It has not yet been determined how many agencies will be included. A spokesman for London 2012 said that the tender will be open until 28 August).

London 2012 has already successfully negotiated several partner deals since it won the right to host the Olympics four years ago.

Earlier this year, LOCOG announced that it had hired McCann Worldgroup to handle its marketing communications strategy following a pitch process. In the deal, McCann Worldgroup became a Tier Three provider.

It recently announced that toy-maker Hornby will create official London 2012 merchandise across its Corgi, Hornby, Scalextric and Airfix brands, while Ticketmaster was named ticketing-services provider.

Tickets for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games will go on sale in 2011.

The Mayor of London's office announced this month that it intends to revamp the London brand ahead of the Games. Agencies will pitch for the tender to create the fresh image, with a budget of £600,000 to create a logo and identity for the city. Mayor Boris Johnson hopes to have both in place by next spring.
