Thorp to head National Geographic in the UK

He will add oversight of National Geographic Channels UK to his current role as managing director of FIC UK, operator of channels such as FX. National Geographic Channels UK operates channels such as Nat Geo and Nat Geo Wild.

Thorp will report to both Hernan Lopez, chief operating officer of Fox International Channels, and George Jeffrey, president of National Geographic Channels Europe.

Simon Bohrsmann continues as general manager for National Geographic Channels in the UK, while Cecilia Parker is promoted to general manager of the FX UK Channels. Both will report to Thorp.

FIC is a wholly-owned division of News Corp. National Geographic Channels UK is a joint venture between News Corp and National Geographic.

Lopez said: "This step simply brings to the UK the kind of integration between the Fox and National Geographic portfolios that we have everywhere in the world."
