The African Travel and Tourism Association (ATTA) has chosen travel
specialist The Saltmarsh Partnership to handle its PR and media
relations in the UK.
The ATTA is an association of more than 110 airlines, tourism boards,
tour operators, travel representation companies, hoteliers and ground
handlers, which aims to promote leisure and business travel throughout
Africa and the Indian Ocean islands. It was established four years ago
and members are based both in the UK and Africa.
The Saltmarsh Partnership takes over the ATTA account from Brighter PR
following a two-way pitch against Affinity. A three-strong team will
work on the account. The agency has been briefed to develop ATTA’s media
relations with consumer and trade journalists, and to support the
association’s membership drive. It will report to ATTA’s management
committee.
ATTA chairman Bill Adams said the agency would focus on raising
awareness of the variety of travel experiences offered by Africa and the
Indian Ocean islands, and countering bad publicity which has dogged some
African countries in recent months.
The Saltmarsh Partnership’s portfolio of travel and tourism clients
includes KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Kenya Airways and the New Zealand
Tourism Board.
