The acquisition will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2009, subject to the approval of the Office of Fair Trading.

Durrants provides monitoring services across all media, including web, newswires and social media, but insists that print media remains a key priority for comms professionals.

Jeremy Thompson, MD of Durrants said: ‘By expanding our business through this acquisition, more organisations will be able to benefit from the investment we have made to deliver innovative, award-winning solutions to this long established industry.'

Cision's UK business has been loss-making in 2008 and 2009, with an operating loss before restructuring charges of £0.7m for the first quarter of 2009 and £0.9m for the second quarter of 2009. It expects to return to profitability following the sale of its UK print monitoring operation.
